In the UK, foods in season in the winter months include Brussel sprouts, green, white and savoy cabbage, leeks, potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, kale, beetroot, celeriac, chicory, fennel, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes, celery, chestnuts, salsify, swede, turnips, apples and pears. Duck, goose, venison, grouse, cod, mussels, salmon and oysters are also at their peak at this time of year.
